Request Funding
Revised July 2024

The Rotary Club of Truckee Donation Policy

The Rotary Club of Truckee appreciates the generosity of individuals and organizations that support our mission and vision through their donations.  We provide donations to the community and its organizations that align with our mission and vision. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for distribution of donated funds to the community.

  • Mission: We serve the community, and environment, with an emphasis on Truckee, by identifying and addressing community needs through active participation, fellowship, and fundraising, leading with integrity, and modeling the Rotary motto 'Service Above Self.'
  • Vision: We are people of action. Through our commitment to service, with our personal and professional skills, we unite and focus on improving our community, and inspiring others to join us in creating a brighter future.

BACKGROUND

Each month the Rotary Club of Truckee accepts funding requests from local charities, nonprofits, clubs, and other not-for-profit organizations in the Truckee area.

The application must be received one (1) week prior to the Board meeting to be considered.  The Board meets the 1st Tuesday of every month.  The first 3 applications will be reviewed, as determined by the Club President, and other requests will be deferred to the next Board meeting.

Grant applicants are expected to make a 5-minute presentation regarding the request at the Club’s board meeting. The Board of Directors will review the request and either accept, deny, or modify it, notifying the applicant of the decision shortly thereafter.

FUNDING SOURCES
All funds distributed through this monthly grant-making process are raised by donations and our club’s annual fundraisers. The amount of money raised directly affects how much funding is available for distribution throughout the year.
To ensure that the Rotary Club can continue funding grant requests, all applicants that receive funds are expected to contribute to our annual fundraisers (Small Town Big Night Out in the Fall and Crab Feed in the Spring) in one or more of the following ways:
● Ticket Sales
● Silent Auction Donations
● Sponsorships
● Volunteering
When submitting your grant application, please comment which event you will support and how your organization will support the event.

Applicants must also be willing to advertise and promote the receipt of said funds on their websites, advertising, and other similar means. Be prepared to hang a Rotary banner supplied by Rotary at events held by the applicant and to adhere Rotary stickers, also supplied by Rotary, on equipment etc. procured with said funds.
