Sierra Expeditionary Crab and Pasta Feed beneficiary

TRUCKEE — Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) is
thrilled Truckee Noon Rotary has chosen them as Rotary's nonprofit partner for
this year's Crab and Pasta Peed, to be held at the Truckee Community Recreation
Center on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Sierra
Expeditionary Learning
School will host the live
auction at the Crab Feed and will be the recipient of all proceeds raised from
the auction."We are honored and grateful that the Truckee Noon
Rotary selected us to participate with them in this fun event," said SELS
Board member Erica Stein, chair for the auction. Sierra Expeditionary
Learning School
plans to use the money raised from the auction to start their capital campaign
fund to pay for needed additional classroom space.

SELS is a public charter school within the Tahoe Truckee
Unified School
District, currently serving grades kindergarten
through sixth with plans to add seventh and eighth grades during the next two
years. SELS is centrally located in the portables outside of the Sierra Mountain
Community Education
Center. As an Expeditionary
Learning school, SELS students engage in service, conduct fieldwork with
experts and dig deeply into authentic projects.
Expeditionary learning curriculum adheres to TTUSD district
and CA state standards. Developed by Outward Bound, Expeditionary learning
curriculum has been credited with improving test scores and increasing student
motivation and achievement with a 18-year track record of success in schools
nationwide.
